Samsung puts the Galaxy Note 4 through the butt test
Samsung is confident that the Note 4 won’t bend as easily as Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus. As proof, the Korean giant released a short video showing the Note 4 going through stress tests.
The first test is the standard three-point bend test, which entails propping the device at each end and applying force at the middle. According to the video, the device can take at least 250 newton (55 pound of force) before bending. That’s the force needed to break three pencils.

To be fair, 55 pound isn’t that impressive – in the recent Consumer Reports test, the iPhone 6 Plus resisted 70 pounds before showing a deformation, while the Note 3 went up to a whopping 150 pounds. Still, it’s likely that whoever made the video simply chose a non-maximal value and the Note 4 can withstand higher forces than 55 pounds.

The video also highlights the “Human Weight Test,” a.k.a the butt test, which simulates what happens when you repeatedly sit on your device. The Note 4 can supposedly endure being sat on “hundreds of times” by a 100 kilo (220 pound) man. That’s possible, says Samsung, thanks to the metallic frame, strong magnesium chassis, and “mutually reinforcing structure between parts.”
