Ever since reports of Apple iPhone 6 Plus’ bending problems first surfaced we’ve seen numerous ‘bend tests’ hit the scene, attempting to see if non-Apple devices have the same problem. This not only includes multiple videos from Unbox Therapy’s Lewis Hilsenteger, but also in-house tests from Samsung and OnePlus as well.
Now Hilsenteger is back once again, this time seeing how the Note 4 fares when put through the bend test. It’s worth mentioning that the Note 3 did exceptionally well in an earlier test by Hilsenteger and the Note 4 also seemingly did well in the Samsung-done stress testing video (which includes a butt test..). So how does the phone do when compared to the Note 3? Not as well as you might think, interestingly enough.
In fact, the Note 4 actually bends at the very same point as the iPhone 6 Plus, though it is worth noting that it doesn’t bend nearly as badly as the 6 Plus did under the same test. Hilsenteger also says tons of force was put on it before it gave and it is actually possible to bend it back to original form easily enough. This means that, while the Note 4 does bend, you probably won’t run into any issues just by putting it in your pocket — unlike the iPhone 6 Plus. Still it does suggest that having a metal construction might make a phone look more premium, but it doesn’t necessarily make it more durable.
What do you think of this latest test, surprised by the results or not?
