Nexus 6 passes through the FCC, ahead of pre-orders opening on October 29

With the Nexus 6 pre-orders opening up on October 29th, we see a device closely resembling the Nexus 6 pass through the FCC.
October 26, 2014

Since the October 15 Nexus 6 unveiling, Google has been tight-lipped about when exactly the Nexus 6 will be released. Thanks to some recently discovered FCC documents, we now have some new information to help us speculate some more. First reported on Reddit, the FCC filing shows us a Motorola device that closely resembles the Nexus 6. It’s worth noting that there is no mention of the word Nexus 6 in the filing, however, based on the matching device measurements, it’s a safe bet to assume this is indeed the Nexus 6. The FCC listing shows a devices that is 159.4mm x 83mm, while the Nexus 6 on Google Play has measurements of 159.26×82.98mm.

The one thing we are sure of is that the Nexus 6 is going up for pre-order on Google Play starting on October 29. Typically, devices are released a few weeks after being certified by the FCC, so for the sake of speculation, we could put a release date on or around November 8. That falls close to the confirmed T-Mobile release date of November 12. Sprint, AT&T, U.S. Cellular and Verizon will all stock the Nexus 6 but they have not announced any release dates.

The report shows two different approved devices. Based on the bands, it is likely that the 4054 model is the North American version, while the 3600 model is the international variant.
