MWC is here, and it's about MORE than phones!
The biggest names in mobile technology are headed to Barcelona this week, planning to show off their latest and greatest phones and tablets at this years Mobile World Congress. But, did you know there will be much more to see than just mobile devices?
Mobile World Congress (MWC) is an annual event that touts itself as “the blueprint for the NEXT big innovation.” The event itself promises the following:
With over 1700 vendors on display, in-fact 1960 results show on their exhibitors list, there will be more than just phones and tablets to look at. All sorts of mobile technology is expected, from health-centric wearables and smartwatches, cloud storage solutions and whatever may come out of Samsung’s much anticipated Unpacked event.
Vendors like BAE Systems out of the UK, however, are not likely to be presenting the next big phone. BAE focuses on cyber security, financial crime, communications intelligence and digital transformation, all of which are a crucial part of the backbone requirements for all of the mobile technology we use today.
Continuing what they had started with the G Flex smartphone, we expect to see LG unveil a few monstrous curved television sets. American Express will be there, we hope to discuss mobile payment services. App development companies like Avast, Gameloft and Firefox have rented booths, as well as other hardware and software related companies such as Qualcomm and Nvidia with their TegraZone gaming system.
We are also excited for the 30+ battery manufacturers in attendance, as a breakthrough in battery life is something we all desire. Even Ford will be there to show off a new vehicle with their latest technologies and SYNC connectivity system.
There are many pieces that make up our favorite technology, and there are many different companies behind those pieces – MWC is the place where all those companies come together to ensure that your next smartphone will contain all the right pieces.
