Earlier today we learned some new details reportedly connected to Motorola’s massive Shamu ‘phablet’. First, we learned that the handset will look very similar to the Moto X, only much larger. Second, the handset is said to have a 5.92-inch QHD display (498ppi), a Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, a 13MP rear cam, 2MP front cam and a 3200 mAh battery.
Looking for more evidence of Shamu’s existence? The above picture was first spotted in the comment section of an Android Police article, posted by Michael Sudol. The image later made its way to XDA and to Droid-Life. As you can see, it shows off what is allegedly a massive Motorola handset next to a LG G3. One thing you’ll notice is the Motorola “M” branding is present on this device and there doesn’t appear to be any NEXUS labeling on it, unless the logo is super-tiny and under the piece of paper with the words “SHAMU” written on it, but we somehow doubt that.
This means that either the Nexus branding won’t appear on this purported Nexus device, or this isn’t a Nexus at all. We’ve heard past mentions of a Motorola Moto S, and it’s more likely that’s what we see in the photo above. Are the S and Shamu are the same thing? That’s unclear just yet. It’s also possible that Motorola will release both the Moto S and a Nexus phablet based on the handset but with different aesthetics. Of course, there’s also the possibility the above photo was somehow faked. Either way, we’d take this whole thing with a grain of salt for now.
What do you think, interested in the idea of a Motorola ‘phablet’? Hope this is also a Nexus device, or not?
