Motorola Razr i now available in the UK from Phones4U with O2 contract

While some US techies are on pins and needles after finding out that the Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD could have their launches delayed until the end of the year, Moto fans living in the UK can now rejoice.

The first Intel-powered Motorola phone, the Razr i, was expected to get a British launch “at the beginning of October”, and, while we didn’t get an exact date from Motorola or Intel until now, the 4.3-incher arrived pretty much on schedule.

It’s true, you are limited in your choice of carriers, but if you can’t wait to test out that 2 GHz Intel Atom CPU, you’ll probably have no qualms to sign an agreement with O2 via Phones4U.

The prices, as expected, are not very steep, so you can get the Razr i from Phones4U with no upfront payment and a monthly fee of just £21.50. Most of you, however, will be probably more tempted to go for the £31 monthly plan that includes 1 GB of data, as well as unlimited voice calls and texts (unlike the £21.50, which gives you unlimited texts, but only 100 minutes of voice calls and 500 MB of data).

Still think the deal is not sweet enough? How about if you got all the above and a free pair of wireless MOTOROKR S305 stereo headphones? Those might not be “approved by Dr.Dre”, but they’re normally priced at $59.99 and actually selling pretty good. The free headphones are part of a limited deal valid only for the first 500 Razr i orders placed at Phones4U, so hurry up if you want to take advantage of it!

The Razr i has been up for grabs for a little while in its SIM-free unlocked flavor via Clove for £342, while Virgin, T-Mobile and Orange UK are all expected to start selling it subsidized in a matter of hours. As far as other countries getting it, we expect select European markets to follow GB very soon, while the US has slim chances of ever seeing the i.

American tech users do have the Droid Razr M available over at Verizon, and that’s pretty much the same phone as the i, save for the Intel processor, replaced with a more standard, but also slightly snappier, dual-core Snapdragon S4 one.

Who’s thinking of getting a Razr i? Is Phones4U/O2 UK’s offer good enough or will you be waiting to see the other carriers’ offers? How about those of you living in the States, do you still hope to see the Intel-powered phone released near you?
