A new update to the Touchless Control app for the Moto X and other recent Motorola devices adds an incredibly useful new voice command that reads notifications out loud.

The new update adds the ability to have the phone read notifications aloud so you don’t even have to look at the phone to know what it’s trying to tell you. After installing the update, users simple have to ask “What’s up?” or say “Read notifications” after activating Touchless Control by saying “OK Google Now.” The app will then read aloud all notifications.

The new command is available in English, Spanish, and Italian. It will work in other languages, but only in beta. The feature is only available to those running Android 4.4 KitKat, so make sure your phone is on the latest version of Android before trying the feature.

Motorola also improved the end-of-speech detection of Touchless Control in the latest update, which will speed up responses and improve accuracy. The change should hopefully make it so the phone no longer picks up on words when you thought you were done talking, but the phone was still listening.

The update also squashes a few unnamed bugs.

Like all versions of Touchless Control, this version is only available on the Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid Mini, and Droid Maxx.

Now the only question is do you see yourself actually using the new voice command? Or do you not like speaking to your phone?
