Moto X availability and pricing (US, UK, India, etc): what we know so far

We don't know specific dates just yet, but we do know a bit about pricing, what countries will carry the phone, and even a few early carrier details.

new moto x first look aa (3 of 21)

Shortly after the original Moto X was first announced it became clear that there were a few caveats to its arrival. First, it was being targeted primarily at the US market. Second, its customization tool — the Moto Maker — would be an exclusive to AT&T initially. Eventually Motorola rolled out the Moto Maker to all US carriers and brought the phone to the UK, Europe, India and many other markets, but it sure took its sweet time.

For those worried that Motorola will make the same mistake twice, it doesn’t look that way based on what we know so far. Motorola will officially be launching the device sometime later this month in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe. While we don’t know specific launch dates just yet, here’s what we know so far:

United States availability

While the new Moto X is expected to arrive later this month to all four major US carriers, only Verizon and AT&T have confirmed it and put up registration pages. The fifth largest carrier, US Cellular, has also chimed in saying it will carry the handset later this year.

The Moto X is expected to cost $99 on contract, or $500 outright.

UK availability

Unfortunately, none of the carriers have piped up yet as far as we can tell. We do know that the handset will arrive sometime next month starting at £419.99, however. Reportedly the Moto Maker will also be available, though its unclear which carriers Motorola will be teaming up with just yet.

Canadian availability

According to Mobile Syrup, Motorola’s launch partner for the Moto X in Canada is Telus, which will offer the phone in 16GB form only with color choices of black-on-black and white-on-bamboo. Unfortunately, there will be no Moto Maker availability (at least for now) and Telus will be the only carrier to offer the device.

No word on pricing, though reportedly Telus will sell the device simiilarly to the US: $99 on contract, $500 off.

Indian availability

The new Moto X will be sold exclusively through Flipkart next month, though no exact word on pricing or color choices.
