Everything is covered, from surfaces and shadows to colors, margins and grids. These happen to be the main factors in Material Design, and they are not many. In the video, Google IO 2014 app designer Roman Nurik goes into detail about the process of every single Material Design element in the app. You can also see how every element was chosen and why.
