“Out of sight, out of mind” is a very relevant saying in regard to consumer electronics. With the latest Android news dominated by the release of the HTC One X and the incessant leaks and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S3, it’s easy to forget that there are other high-end smartphones out there worthy of your attention.
One such device is the LG Optimus 4X HD. LG’s contender in the race for Android smartphone supremacy was well received at MWC 2012, but the stream of news about the device has seemingly dried up since then. If you’ve, like me, forgot about this device, here is a quick refresher:
- Android 4.0 out of the box
- 4.7″ IPS LCD Display
- 720×1280 resolution, 312 ppi
- 1.5 Ghz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage, expandable via microSD
- 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera
- 2150 mAH battery
Bringing LG’s top-tier device back into the spotlight, Taiwanese website ePrice leaked images and a video of the white version of the LG Optimus 4X HD. This is noteworthy because, while the black version of the device is already available for pre-order, we didn’t know much about a white version. Unfortunately, this leak doesn’t shed any light on the release date of Optimus 4X HD, in either its black or white persona.
As you can see from the images above, the white LG Optimus 4X HD somehow resembles the HTC One X, its most important competitor so far. While most of the specifications of the two devices are similar, the LG does have a slight advantage, rocking a bigger battery and microSD support. The winner in terms of performance cannot be judged as of now.
Personally, just from looking at the above images, I feel like the HTC One X looks far better than the LG device, but, as an HTC “fanboy”, my opinion may be a little biased. Either way, this leak couldn’t have come at a better time to bring the Optimus 4X HD some much needed mindshare. Hopefully, it also means that the official release date isn’t that far away.
I, for one, am very excited about how the Android smartphone race is shaping up. Is the LG Optimus 4X HD going to provide a run for their money to the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3? Do you agree or disagree with my opinion about the One X looking better than the Optimus 4X HD?
