It has been a big week for Android Wear, with the arrival of a new update that brings a few changes to the table and the beginning of pre-orders for the Sony SmartWatch 3. That’s not all the AW-related news, as LG has now announced its global rollout plans for the G Watch R.
Come early November, LG’s circular watch will begin to roll out first to retailers in European countries including France, Italy, Spain and the UK. Shortly after this, the watch will then hit key markets in North America and Asia. Unfortunately LG has still yet to officially confirm pricing for the watch or exact release dates.
For those that are more interested in circular watches than the more typical square design, the LG G Watch R’s arrival means more options than just the Moto 360. It is probably a matter of personal taste as to whether the sporty design looks better or worse than the 360, but it is worth mentioning that the watch’s design allows for a full circle display without the “flat tire” look found on Motorola’s watch.
The G Watch R also has a Snapdragon 400, which should potentially allow for better battery life when compared to the TI chip found in the 360. Other specs for the G Watch R include a 1.3-inch P-OLED display, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, a 410 mAh battery, typical smartwatch sensor (Gyro/Accelerometer/Compass, Barometer and Heart Rate Monitor) and water/dust resistance.
So how about it, anyone interested in picking up the G Watch R? How do you feel it compares to the Moto 360?
