TL;DR
  • Wallpapers for HUAWEI’s upcoming Mate 20 phones have leaked via a recent firmware build.
  • Among them are live wallpapers and themes, and you can download them all now.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 launch is just around the corner, with its announcement pegged for October 16. If you want to get a feel for HUAWEI’s flagship ahead of that date, however, now you can with the official Mate 20 wallpapers.

XDA Developers dug up the wallpapers from a recent EMUI build and you can get them all via the download links at the bottom of the page.

The 14 wallpapers come in at 2160×2244 resolution, so they should look good on most devices (though they aren’t perfectly suited to QHD or 4K displays). It’s an impressive bunch with some typically dramatic imagery — you can take a peek at a selection of them underneath.

XDA also unearthed a couple of Animated wallpapers in the pack. These may not work on every device but should be compatible with anything running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or later.

Finally, you can enjoy some HUAWEI Mate 20 themes too. These feature a wallpaper and icon pack combo and are exclusive to HUAWEI devices running EMUI 8 or 9.

Installing the themes takes a bit of leg-work, though: you’ll have to unzip the bundled .hwt files into your handset’s ‘Themes’ folder (mine’s at local > internal storage > HUAWEI > Themes, but your path might differ slightly). You may also have to create the Themes folder yourself, if it doesn’t exist, apparently.

Then, you’ll have to go into HUAWEI’s Themes app and you should find the now locally-stored themes under the ‘Me’ tab (you may have to hit the ‘customize’ button).
