In the quest for our perfect unicorn phone, we often forget the average consumer. You know, the one who just wants a nice phone. The person who just wants to make calls, and check email now and again. Those who might have 10 apps downloaded, and have no interest in screen resolution or SoC.

Vodafone is set to release the Huawei Ascend G510 tomorrow, and for those of us who just want a decent phone… it isn’t bad. It won’t turn heads, but it is a solid offering from a very respectable carrier. Let’s check it out:

  • 4.5” display at 850×480
  • 5MP rear camera with flash
  • “VGA” front-facing camera
  • Dual-core processor at 1.2GHz
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB Memory
  • Micro SD Card slot
  • 1,700mAh battery

Nothing clever here, that’s for sure. It also has WiFi, NFC, and will be the first device in the UK to offer Huawei’s Emotion UI. It’s also worth mention that the device will have DTS Surround Sound, and come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Ascend G510 will be available from £130. If that doesn’t suit you, it will be free on contract, with monthly plans starting around £15.
