Ever since the Ascend 2 was unveiled in China last October, there’s hope that Huawei would bring its 5-inch 1080p flagship phone to America. What better way to introduce the phone than to showcase it at one of the world’s biggest tech shows?

We’ve reported that alongside other 5-inchers from competing phone makers, we’d see the Huawei Ascend D2 at CES 2013. The spotted billboards — at least two of them — confirm that the Ascend D2 will be the main course on Huawei’s menu.

The Ascend D2 is expected to sport a 5-inch full HD “edge-to-edge” display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 13MP rear camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. Quite an impressive sheet of specs from a manufacturer that’s more known for its low- to mid-end offerings.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more of the phone’s release date and pricing, as well as other juicy details. Don’t miss our coverage of the event, where we’ll be reporting live throughout the day!
