Contrary to a report yesterday saying that the HTC Runnymede will be rebranded into the HTC Bass, an informant has whispered that the HTC Runnymede will be renamed the HTC Sensation XL when it comes out.

An unnamed source told Pocketnow about the rebrand. While confirming that the HTC Sensation XL will have Beats Audio technology, the same source also mentioned that the HTC Sensation XL will come in two bundles: a “regular” bundle that includes iBeats earbuds, and a “special edition” that includes over-the-ear Beats Solo headphones.

The HTC Sensation XL is one of the first few HTC smartphones that carry Beats Audio technology after HTC inked a strategic partnership with Beats by Dr. Dre. Its currently rumored specs include a single-core 1.5-GHz Qualcomm processor, a 4.7-inch touchscreen (800×400 resolution), 16 GB of internal storage, 768 MB of RAM, an 8-megapixel primary camera, and a 1.3-megapixel secondary camera. The device will be powered by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.

A similarly named, Beats-capable device–the HTC Sensation XE–was officially launched just this month. Although its name is similar to the Sensation XL, they are worlds apart in terms of specs. For example, the Sensation XE has a smaller screen and a dual-core processor.
