Between all the leaks and teasers, there’s no denying that the all-new HTCOne (M8) was a poorly kept secret. While various 3rd party leaks regarding the HTCOne’s (M8) specs and other details can already be found easily throughout the web, HTChas now unintentionally (or not?) confirmed plans for a Google Play Edition of the handset as well.

The confirmation comes courtesy of an app description for the HTCGallery, one of the several updated apps that HTChas posted to Google Play. The description reads as follows:

The HTCGallery provides you with a range of fast and easy ways to locate your photos. With Image Match, simply choose a photo with the object or person you want to find and it will locate similar images for you. Timeline View allows you to locate images by day, month or year. And POI Location searches photos that have been taken at a particular place. Now it’s fast and easy to find all the photos you need to. Support for HTCOne(M8) Google Play Edition is limited to HTCPhoto Edit.

It’s that last sentence that gives everything away. Of course, we can’t say we are too surprised, considering the original HTCOne was also part of the GPe program. What we don’t know is when the HTCOne (M8) GPe model will hit, but at least it’s nice to know that there is an option for those that love HTC’s premium design but aren’t so keen on the Sense UI.

For those that were already considering the all-new HTCOne, will you be waiting for the GPe model or are you perfectly content with getting your hands on the standard version?
