Video: leaked Sense 6 build for HTCOne details multiple wake up gestures
Another day, another HTC One (2014) leak. This time we get a closer look at what Sense 6 will look like on the upcoming flagship, due to debut on March 25.
Last week, we learned from a leaked carrier brochure that the All New HTCOne will be coming with a double-tap to wake feature, similar to the functionality introduced by Sony on Xperia Tablet Z, and later adopted by LG on its high-end smartphones.
The video reveals that HTCis going all in with gestures on the new One, implementing not only double-tap to wake but also the following gestures:
- Swipe left (in portrait orientation) to wake the phone and go to the widget panel.
- Swipe right (in portrait orientation) to wake the phone and go to BlinkFeed.
- Swipe up (in portrait orientation) to wake the phone and unlock it.
- Pick the phone (in portrait orientation) and press the volume rocker to wake the phone and launch the camera.
These gestures are collectively known as Motion Launch, and another feature in this category is the ability to answer a phone call by simply putting the phone to your ear.
While the video shows other aspects of the user interface, the Motion Launch gestures appear to be the only new thing we were able to glean from it. Note that this is a screen recording of Sense 6 installed on a HTC One (2013), not the new One. According to the user who originally leaked the video on Reddit (the clip has been since removed, but several mirrors popped up), a flashable build of Sense 6 will be available for download in the coming days.
