The spotlight on 4.3-inch Android smartphones seems to be starting to dim slowly as the limelight starts to grow brighter on the 4.5-inch Android smartphones. The latest device belonging to the latter category is the HTC Holiday, photos of which have recently been spotted.

According to a thread on the XDA Developers forum, an alleged prototype of the HTC Holiday was seen posted for sale on classified ads site Craigslist. The forum member immediately bought the device, took photos, and posted the images–cracked screen and all–on the XDA Developers forum as proof of the device’s existence.

The presence of a myAT&T icon on the device’s screen suggests that the device may be bound for AT&T. It will not be the first AT&T smartphone with that screen size, though. The Samsung Infuse 4G holds the title of being the first 4.5-inch smartphone on AT&T, although it is really good news that another one with more muscle is coming to the carrier.

Further scrutiny of the alleged HTC Holiday prototype revealed the following features:

  • 1.2-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor
  • 4.5-inch touchscreen with qHD quality resolution (960×540)
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8-megapixel primary camera
  • VGA-quality (1.3 MP) secondary camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support
  • Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with HTC Sense UI

The back panel also appears to suggest the possibility of inductive charging capability.

Many of the current high-end Android smartphones still sport 4.3-inch screens, but it seems that 4.5-inch devices are starting to trend, too. The HTC Holiday will be one of those who will be pushing the size upwards, along with the rumored Samsung Hercules and the rumored Samsung Celox (also rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy S III).

Do your pants have large pockets to fit these bigger, more powerful, and awesome Android smartphones?
