With Android Q only a few months away, HTC today finally announced on Facebook and Twitter when its flagship smartphones will get Android 9 Pie.

According to HTC, the U11 will get first dibs on Pie sometime this month. The U12 Plus will get Pie sometime in June and the U11 Plus will get the update in late June. If that seems a bit backward to you, you’re not the only one who feels that way.

We want to share the release schedule of the Android Pie updates for #HTC smartphones. Please note, certain regions & carrier deployment may affect these dates. U11 rollout will begin late May, 2019; U11+ will begin late June, 2019; U12+ will begin mid-June, 2019. Thank you pic.twitter.com/eyeCdX5qWm

HTC phone owners have been waiting quite some time to get a taste of Pie. HTCfirst announced the Pie rollout back in August 2018, when Google officially released the update’s final public version. Since then, only the Android One edition of the U11 Life has received Pie.

What hurts is that the HTCSense version of the U11 Life won’t get Pie, even though it and its Android One sibling share the same hardware. What also hurts is that U12 Plus owners must wait another month for Pie, even though it’s HTC’s current flagship.

It’s nice to finally see Pie roll out to HTCsmartphones, but it might be too late for some who have moved on.
