HONOR 10 specs: The HUAWEI P20 in HONOR clothing?
HUAWEI flagships are traditionally followed by an HONOR phone with very similar specifications. Most recently, we saw the Mate 10/HONOR View 10, and the HUAWEI P10/HONOR 9. The HONOR 10 was revealed in China last month, offering a P20-inspired handset. Today sees confirmation of a global launch though.

Here are what you need to know about the HONOR 10 specs and features.
The P20 influence shines through, starting with the design. There’s the colorful glass back, complete with eye-catching gradient color options. Then we have that divisive display notch, cutting into the 2,280 x 1080 LCD screen. The HONOR 10 isn’t water or dust resistant, echoing the vanilla HUAWEI flagship as well. Another noteworthy design decision is the inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack on the HONOR 10 — no need for an adapter.
The HONOR 10 packs a HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset and 24MP selfie camera. A 3,400mAh battery keeps everything chugging along — much like (you guessed it) the P20.
Photography fans should expect a 24MP monochrome and 16MP RGB dual camera setup. The lack of optical image stabilization is disappointing though, especially for those wanting to record video or take low-light snaps. Nevertheless, the HONOR team claims support for up to 22 scenes/objects to be detected by the Kirin 970’s neural processing unit (NPU).
The AI features extend to the 24MP selfie snapper too, enabling portrait shots, Apple-style portrait lighting effects, and 3D face recognition. The latter enables “more detailed facial optimization,” which essentially translates to “the beauty mode is better.” The selfie camera also packs pixel-binning on the front for better overall photo quality.
Facial recognition has become a major trend in the wake of the iPhone X‘s release, so the HONOR team has slapped a solution on the HONOR 10 as well. The sub-brand claims 360 degree facial unlocking, as well as unlock times of 0.064 seconds.
Another noteworthy addition to the HONOR 10 specs sheet is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which is of the front-mounted variety. HONOR suggests that this implementation is an “industry first,” but the Xiaomi Mi 5s beat them to the punch back in 2016.
In the software arena, you’re looking at Android 8.1 and EMUI 8.1. The new version of EMUI brings an Easy Talk function to the table — HUAWEI’s version of intelligent noise cancellation when taking a call.
