TL;DR
  • The Google Pixel event is scheduled to go live on October 6 at 10 AM ET.
  • We will get to see the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel Watch.
  • We could see a variety of other devices as well.

Google’s Pixel 7 event is just around the corner, with the show scheduled to kick off on October 6. Of course, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be there, but the show will be bigger than just a launch event for the company’s new phones. For example, Google will be showing off its first wearable — the Pixel Watch. We could also be in store for a few surprises as well.

Where to watch the Made by Google 2022 event?

Google is holding an in-person launch event for the Pixel 7 series and Pixel Watch launch this time around. The launch will be an in-person affair in Brooklyn, NY. This would mark the first Pixel launch with a live audience since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Google will also livestream the whole thing on its events page on Thursday, October 6th, at 10 AM ET. You can tune in live at GoogleStore.com/events to watch the show if you are in the US, UK, and Australia. If you are looking to watch the event outside of one of those countries, check out the livestream YouTube link above.

You can also visit the event site before October 6 to set a calendar reminder so you don’t miss out.

What to expect from the Made By Google event 2022

The Mountain View-based company hasn’t exactly been quiet about what could be shown. Plenty of leaks have also surfaced in the last few weeks. Pulling all of this information together, let’s quickly go over everything we expect to see at Google’s conference.

Starting off with the headline of the show, we’re going to get our best official look at the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro since the Google I/O event back in May. During said event, the tech giant gave us our first look at the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in their Snow color scheme. The renders revealed that the camera bar — introduced in the Pixel 6 series — will be sticking around for the Pixel 7 series. However, the camera bar’s glass casing has been replaced with recycled aluminum.

While Google didn’t get into specifics back in May, we expect that the company will give us details about the device’s specs at its upcoming event. Although the firm has yet to officially lay out the details, we have a pretty good idea of what the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are capable of.

A complete spec sheet of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro leaked just a day back. It comes from a reliable source and you can view it below.

It seems Google has made minor upgrades to its flagships this time around. The Pixel 7’s screen could be slightly smaller than the Pixel 6. The Pixel 7 Pro might see an upgrade with a 4.8x optical zoom and up to 30x digital magnification. The previous model only offered 4x optical zoom. Additionally, the ultrawide camera might have an increased field of view of 125 degrees.

It looks like the Pixel 7 will likely get a downgrade in the field-of-view department, with its ultrawide camera possibly going down from 114 degrees to 106 degrees.

While the Pixel 7 Pro might keep its 5,000mAh battery from the last generation, the Pixel 7’s battery will probably be a little smaller than the Pixel 6’s 4,600mAh battery at 4,355mAh.

We also have an idea of how much each device will cost you. A leak that surfaced last week revealed that the Pixel 7 will likely sell for $599 while the Pixel 7 Pro will be available for $899. So both models will likely be about the same price as last year. Also, both phones will go up for preorder on the same day as the event.

The Pixel Watch

The Pixel 7 series may be the headliner, but we can’t forget about the highly anticipated Pixel Watch. As mentioned earlier, the Pixel Watch will be Google’s first smartwatch and rumors have been swirling around the device since it was unveiled at Google I/O.

What we know is that the gadget will launch alongside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. In fact, some people have even begun finding them hiding in retail stores this past week. It’s expected that the Pixel Watch will cost more than a Fitbit. A leak places the cost of the Wi-Fi model being as much as $349.99.

In terms of the design, the smartwatch will have a circular face that helps differentiate it from Apple’s square design. The device will also come with proprietary bands in several different flavors such as mesh, leather, fabric, silicon, and more.

Another thing you can expect to be revealed at the show is the Pixel Watch’s Fitbit integration. Google has said that the Pixel Watch will have deep integration with Fitbit, which makes sense given that Google acquired Fitbit in 2021. It will also be running on an Exynos 9110 chip — released back in 2018 — with Wear OS 3.

Beyond that, other leaks have told us that we could get 32GB of internal storage and the most RAM seen on any device running on Wear OS. However, it could be lacking in the longevity department if rumors are true about a 300mAh battery.

Now that we got the obvious stuff out of the way, it’s time to dive into products that could make an special appearance at the event. One such item that could grace our screens is the new Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro.

Google has already made the mesh router official. It comes with Wi-Fi 6E support but has no backward compatibility and no smart speaker integrations. You can pre-order the device for $199 for an October 27 release date.

Nest Doorbell

Google also announced the 2nd gen wired Nest Doorbell recently. It’s 30% smaller than before and offers the best image quality yet. Unlike its battery-powered sibling, this device’s wired connection will enable the new Nest Doorbell to record video all day, every day. It will also support a 24/7 continuous video history for 10 days if you have a Nest Aware subscription.

Going on sale for $179.99 starting on October 4, the wired Nest Doorbell will be available in Snow (white), Ash (gray), Linen (beige/yellow), and Ivy (grayish green). We expect Google to show it off at the event.

It’s not uncommon for companies to show off products that are already available at events like this, and we wouldn’t put it past Google to do the same. Why not when you have everyone’s attention? We could see Google throw up some images and spare a minute or two talking about some of its Fitbit wearables. For example, the Fitbit Sense 2 and the Versa 4 recently launched, and Google may spend some time putting a spotlight on those devices.
