TL;DR
  • Renders that allegedly show the unannounced Google Pixel 5a have hit the internet.
  • The phone looks nearly identical to the older Pixel 4a 5G.
  • There’s no word on when this phone will be released.

Google launched the Pixel 5 in the fall of 2020, so we have been wondering if a Pixel 5a might be in the works. Tonight, noted gadget leaker Steve “OnLeaks” Hemmerstoffer posted some info on the phone from his sources, along with images that he claims show renders of the Google Pixel 5a.

The renders show a phone that, in terms of design and size, looks almost exactly like the Pixel 4a 5G. It will reportedly have a flat 6.2-inch OLED FHD+ display. Its front-facing punch hole camera is placed on the top left corner. The bezels are fairly thin but not as thin as higher-end smartphones. Check more images out below.

The phone may still have some throwback features that may or may not please some users. The story claims it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack and a rear fingerprint sensor. It will also reportedly have stereo speakers.

The Pixel 5a leaked renders also show a rear square camera bump with two unknown sensors, along with a flash. There’s also something else in the bump that the tipster claims is likely to be a Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) sensor.

There are no details about the other important hardware specs, including the phone’s processor, RAM, storage, and the size of its battery.

There’s also no word on when the Pixel 5a might launch. Considering the Pixel 4a was announced back in August 2020 and that the 5G version launched in October 2020, we might have to wait at least a few months for this new Pixel phone from Google to come on the market.
