Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL Front

Update, August 16, 2019 (04:15 PM ET): If you use Playground to add Playmoji to your photos and videos on your Google Pixel 3a or 3a XL, you’ve likely been irritated that you can only do so using the rear camera. That changes today as you can finally add Playmoji to your photos and videos when using the front-facing camera on your Pixel 3a device (via 9to5Google).

The feature upgrade comes with Playground 2.6, which is rolling out now via the Google Play Store.

When you first open Playground 2.6, you’ll see a prompt informing you of the new feature. After dismissing the prompt, you’ll see that a switch button now exists which allows you to jump between the rear camera and the front camera on your Pixel 3a device.

Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL update

  • Current stable version: Android Pie
  • When will the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL get Android Q? August 2019 (estimated)

The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL launched earlier this year with Android Pie, the latest version of Android. They are expected to receive three major updates in their lifetime in accordance with Google’s smartphone update policy.

Google tends to update its Pixel phones with the latest Android version on the day it first becomes available. That means the Pixel 3a and 3a XL should see Android Q as soon as the final version rolls out. It’s expected around August this year.
