Gmail update brings ability to insert Drive files in-line, smarter autocomplete
Google is pushing a small update to its Gmail app, bringing it to version 4.9.
The main feature in the update is the new ability to insert a file from your Drive account into the email, so the recipient can click on it and be taken to the Drive version. In case you did not share the respective file prior to inserting it into the video, you will be shown a warning message and the option to share it on the spot. The new feature is available in the three-dot overflow menu.
Another small feature in the update is smarter auto-correct. Gmail will now show you suggestion for contacts in the To, Cc, and Bcc fields, as soon as you type the first letter.
That’s about it. There are no visible design changes, and definitely no revamp in the Material design style. Oh well, at least we actually have reasons to look forward to this autumn.
