Burned through a few video games and ready to trade them in? Gamestop has long offered a large selection of games that can be purchased used and new, allowing trade-ins of older games, consoles and accessories in order to help pay for them. Now they’re are also adding the option to trade-in your used gaming goodies and use the credit towards the purchase of a new phone as well.

The new deal is part of a partnership with Cricket, which will see the AT&T-owned prepaid carrier’s phones and service sold in more than 2800 Gamestop locations by the end of October. This is certainly an interesting move and a somewhat natural extension of Gamestop’s existing mobile effort: selling used and new tablets. In addition to trading in gaming related wares, the new deal is opening the door towards used smartphones trade-ins — at least according to Cricket’s press release.

It’s currently unclear what devices Cricket will stock, though they actually have some reasonably decent devices like the Moto G. Pricing starts at just $35, and more details can be found through Cricket’s website. What do you think of the partnership, good idea or not?
