Late last month Samsung Russia unveiled a revamped version of the Galaxy S4 under the name “Galaxy S4 Black Edition”. This special edition handset featured the same Snapdragon 600 CPU, but traded the S4’s old look for the faux leather design found on the Note 3 and many of Samsung’s newer tablets. Now a similar looking redesign is heading to South Korea’s Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A.

Like the Black edition, the revamped S4 LTE-A features faux stitching around the edges and the speaker opening on the back. Where the LTE-A model stands out, however, is that it sports LTE-A compatibility and a beefier Snapdragon 800 CPU. The LTE-A models also include three color choices: Deep Black, Rose Gold Black and Rose Gold White.

Some of the handset’s other specs include 16GB storage, microSD, a 5-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display, Bluetooth 4.0, an infrared port, a 13MP main cam, 2MP front cam, and a 2600 mAh battery.

With the Galaxy S5 just around the corner, it’s unclear if Samsung will actually release the redesigned Galaxy S4 LTE-A outside of South Korea, though it is worth noting that the previous GS4 LTE-A model did make its way to Europe.

If the rumors are true and the Galaxy S5 is a major departure from the design of the GS4 and even newer devices like the Note 3, perhaps this Snapdragon 800-wielding GS4 could be aimed at folks that prefer Samsung’s current leather-inspired design language over what comes next? It’s hard to say for sure, though we certainly wouldn’t count on it.

What do you think, would you like to see the redesigned Galaxy S4 LTE-A make its way to your neck of the woods? For those that would rather turn their attention to the GS4’s successor, a recent Samsung event invitation hints that the Galaxy S5 could be announced as early as February 24th.
