  • Another alleged real-world Galaxy Note 20 Ultra snap has leaked.
  • The picture shows a possible new pointer feature for the S Pen.

Taking a break from exciting hardware reveals and Mystic Bronze colorways, a newly leaked feature has reportedly been spotted on the rumored Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

An image tweeted by YouTuber Jimmy Is Pro (h/t: XDA-Developers) reveals a possible new pointer mode for the upcoming Galaxy Note line, which could turn the S Pen into a digital pointer.

S Pen can now act as a Pointer. Select your color and select icons on the screen, navigate around. Also can highlight an area. #Note20 #GalaxyNote20Ultra

According to the image and unlike a mouse, users are required to “press and hold the Pen button” to move the pointer. Users can also highlight selected areas, tap on icons, and “navigate around.” The pointer’s color, style, and speed can also be tweaked.

The feature does suggest a possible future for the S Pen as more than just a stylus. While it only has one button at present, the S Pen could work well as an always-available wireless mouse for use within Dex. It’s not yet clear if the stylus is ready to adopt that functionality in 2020’s iteration of the Note though.

If no additional hardware is required, pointer mode could theoretically make its way to the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S6 Tab via a software update. It will also likely be included on the Note 20 and Note 20 Plus. We wouldn’t rule out the feature hitting the rumored Galaxy Tab S7 either.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 series is expected to be announced on August 5 at the company’s Unpacked event.
