Speculations and rumors about the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus can now be laid to rest. The newest handset from Samsung, which is the first-ever smartphone to use Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is now available in the U.K. through Phones4U. Folks from the United Kingdom will be the first ones to enjoy this highly anticipated smartphone.

The Galaxy Nexus sports a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display screen. It runs on a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. The smartphone has 16 GB of inbuilt storage. The new Nexus also has two digital cameras. The one at the back is 5 MP, which is capable of capturing 1080p HD videos, and the one on front is 1.3 MP.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which debuts on the Galaxy Nexus, offers a wide variety of new features. For instance, the Galaxy Nexus will have Face Unlock, which uses facial recognition to unlock the phone.  Its camera app also has native support for real-time video editing effects, such as those demoed by Matias Duarte recently.

No official word has been proclaimed yet about when the Galaxy Nexus will be available in the U.S. The latest rumor points at November 21, reportedly coinciding with the end of Google’s promotional contest for the Galaxy Nexus.

The new Samsung Galaxy Nexus carries a lot of promises under its name. Having the Nexus brand on this product means that Google played a big role in its conception. If this smartphone could live up to people’s expectations, then this will be a surefire hit.
