galaxy-mega-2

Earlier today Samsung took the veil of its metal-framed Galaxy Alpha, a new handset that gives users a smaller screen with relatively premium specs and design. That’s not the only new device heading our way from Sammy in the near future, however. The most anticipated upcoming device is obviously the Note 4, due out in September. Beyond that? It’s also believed we’ll soon see the next-gen Galaxy Mega. We’ve already heard past rumors and reports claiming that the handset would arrive with a 6-inch display, and now we are getting a first look at the Mega 2.

The new images were first discovered by Phone Arena in China’s Telecommunications Equipment Certification Center database. In addition to the images of the device, we are also getting a better look at the specs that will accompany the handset. It’s important to note that the specs and pics are of model SM-G7508Q, which carries China’s TD-LTE standard, but we imagine the same specs and looks will hold true for the international models as well.

The specs claim the device will offer a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 with 2GB RAM, a 5MP front cam, a 13MP rear cam with flash, 8GB internal memory, a microSD card, a 5.98-inch display with a 720p resolution, and Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz on top. From the sounds of it, this 6-inch model will be the only version of the handset this time around, throwing out the (strange) previous rumors about a 5.1-inch variant of the device.

Providing the specs are correct, the Galaxy Mega 2 is a big step up from its predecessor, though it is still very much an entry-level device. Design wise, the handset seems to feature a leather back that is similar to devices like the Note 3. What do you think of the Mega, based on specs and looks, like it or not?
