How to find someone on Snapchat

Finding people on Snapchat can seem challenging if you haven’t used the platform before. If you haven’t connected your Snapchat to other social media accounts, it can feel like you have to start fresh.

There are several ways to find people on Snapchat. You can sync your phone contacts, use the search function in Add Friends, or scan a Snapcode. Let’s divulge each method.

Syncing phone contacts

1. Launch Snapchat and tap your profile picture in the top left. This will take you to Profile.
2. Under the Friends section, go to Add Friends.
3. Tap the All Contacts button next to Quick Add.

In the Friends on Snapchat section, you can see people in your contacts who already have Snapchat. If you see them there, tap Add.

However, if someone is in your contacts and they don’t have Snapchat, they will appear in the Invite to Snapchat section. Tap Invite next to whoever you wish to invite to Snapchat.

Search for them

1. Launch Snapchat and tap your profile picture in the top left.
2. Under the Friends section, go to Add Friends.
3. Tap the Find friends field at the top and search for your friend’s name or username.
4. When they appear, tap Add.

Snapcode

Snapchat has its own QR code type of system called “Snapcodes.” Upon scanning a Snapcode, you can instantly jump to someone’s profile and add them as a friend.

1. Launch Snapchat.
2. With the Snapchat camera open, point your camera at the Snapcode. Your friend must be showing you their Snapcode, or you must be able to see it from a different screen.
3. A banner will appear at the bottom of Snapchat that says Snapcode Detected. Tap and hold on the Snapcode or tap the banner.
4. When redirected to that person’s Snapchat profile, tap Add Friend.
