Music streaming services surpassed physical media and digital downloads years ago in terms of revenue and popularity, and it’s easy to understand why this is the case.

Popular subscription services can be as cheap as $5 to $10 a month, giving you instant access to tens of millions of tracks from loads of artists. And many services also offer decent recommendation engines and the ability to download tracks for offline listening.

Nevertheless, there’s still something to be said about buying music. Whether you’re buying digital downloads, LPs, CDs, or other physical media, there are several reasons to take this route. So let us know whether you still buy music via the poll below.

One of the biggest reasons to take the purchasing route is that you own the music in question. So if you choose to end your streaming subscription, you still have access to your favorite tracks. Streaming services also occasionally lose access to some music due to licensing-related reasons — something you don’t need to worry about if you have the digital downloads or CD in question.

Digital music downloads are also pretty handy if you have a device that doesn’t support your music streaming platform of choice. For example, Wear OS 2.0 smartwatches don’t have access to YouTube Music and didn’t have access to a full-featured Spotify client until very recently.
