Thanks to its modern aesthetic and set of problems, the Pixel 2 XL received the bulk of attention relative to the smaller Pixel 2. Either phone is just as powerful and capable as the other, however, and you can grab the oft-forgotten Pixel 2 for at least $500 from Woot.
The phone is available with 64GB of storage in Kinda Blue, Just Black, and Clearly White. Only the Just Black option is also available in the 128GB configuration, which Woot sells for $550.
By comparison, Google sells the 64GB and 128GB Pixel 2 for $649 and $749, respectively.
Keep in mind that the Pixel 2 sold through Woot is refurbished, so you will not get Google’s two-year warranty. Instead, the phone comes with Woot’s 90-day warranty, with an option to spend $90 on SquareTrade’s one-year protection plan.
Also, Woot’s refurbished Pixel 2 is the Verizon variant. It will work on GSM networks, such as AT&T and T-Mobile, through support for Sprint is questionable. Just remember that you cannot unlock the Verizon variant’s bootloader, so custom ROMs are a no-go.
Finally, you can skip the flat-rate shipping fee of $5 if you are an Amazon Prime member.
As a quick recap, the Pixel 2 features a 5-inch 1080p display, stereo front speakers, 12.2MP primary camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 2,700mAh battery, and IP67 certification for water and dust resistance.
The lack of a headphone jack hurts, but at least the phone comes with a USB-Type-C-to-headphone-jack adapter. Also, the Pixel 2 is slated to get security patches and major Android updates through 2020.
