If you want to get your hands on a solid touchscreen Chromebook for the holidays, Best Buy is currently offering a sweet deal on the 2017 edition of the Acer Chromebook 15. Not only is the Chromebook itself being sold for $299, a $100 discount from its normal $399 price, but Best Buy is bundling in a Google Home connected speaker for the low, low price of nothing at all.
While Acer has released models of its Chromebook since 2015, the company decided to put in an aluminum top cover and palm rest for the 2017 version of the 15.6-inch touchscreen laptop, compared to the all-plastic body used in earlier versions of the Chromebook 15. The metal design allows it to be thinner and lighter compared to the older models. The laptop weights just 3.74 pounds and is 0.74 inches thick. Inside it has an Intel Pentium 1.1 Ghz quad core N4200 processor, along with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
The battery in the 2017 Acer Chromebook 15 is supposed to last up to 12 hours, on a single charge, and it includes two USB Type-C ports and two USB 3.0 ports, along with a microSD card port and a headphone jack. As with all new Chromebooks, the 2017 Acer Chromebook 15 can access the Google Play Store to download and play Android apps. It also has a built in 720p webcam on top of the display and the keyboard is backlit for use at night.
A $100 price cut is noteworthy enough, but Best Buy is throwing in a free Google Home speaker with every Acer Chromebook 15 purchase. Normally, the speaker costs $129, although Google, Best Buy and other retailers are selling it for $79 during the holiday shopping season. This makes this deal even nicer, as many people who might buy the Acer Chromebook 15 might not have the Google Assistant-based connected speaker. Even if they do, they can choose to give their Google Home to someone else and keep the Acer Chromebook for themselves.
There’s no word on how long this bundle deal will last, but we would expected to expire in the very near future.
