Cyanogen hires HTC US Product Manager Leigh Momii as product evangelist
While Cyanogen Inc is still a very new company, they seem to have some pretty big ambitions and have certainly made a splash with efforts like the creation of CyanogenMod 11S for the OnePlus One. As the company continues to grow, it has hired other well-known ROM developers, as well as execs from Microsoft, HTC and MediaTek. And now they are adding another HTC exec, this time Leigh Momii, a product manager who has worked for HTC for three and a half years.
Starting Friday, Momii will come onboard as a Product Evangelist for Cyanogen, and while the actual details of what she will be doing for the company isn’t clear, generally speaking a “Product Evangelist” is just a fancy way of saying she’s a specialized PR person that targets a specific group, market or demographic. As to what market or group she’ll be aimed at or in what capacity Cyanogen will use her? We have no clue just yet.
It’s really amazing to think how far Cyanogen has come from the days when it was nothing more than a small team of custom ROMers. Of course, not everyone feels that their corporate shift is a good move. What do you think, have you been impressed with Cyanogen’s recent direction? Excited for their future or not?
