As long as the model numbers for the device and the firmware match you will be fine.

If you're device is rooted, yes you can use Titanium Back to back up all the apps and app data that is currently on your device. If you haven't then it will be lost when you flash a new ROM onto your device.

You can create a nandroid backup by using a custom recovery, just select backup in the recovery and choose the partitions you want to backup and then start the process.

Had you moved the apps to your SD Card before backing up your phone?

Sorry to say but I think you will need to reinstall them.

hi. i have a galaxy s4 which is running android 4.4.2, model number is gt-i9505.
so i tryied to install a firmware manually from sammobile but my pda and csc don't have 5.0.1.
so i installed a different pda and csc like you said before in the uper forums. but i installed a different modele name firmware which is SPH-L720.and it works very good but there some apps i don't want like sprinte zone and samsung hub. so i wan't to install back my correspondent firmware which is GT-I9505 but i am scared. plz can install it back and can destroy my phone.
    thank you.
