Comments of the Week: Galaxy S5 love, Russian hackers, and comment edits

Buongiorno, Android Authority readers! Right now I’m on vacation in Italy (Florence, to be exact), but I took some time out from eating gelato and pasta to whip up the weekly edition of Comment Authority for you all! Prego (that means “you’re welcome”). While I’ve been gone, there’s been some fantastico articles written on the site which generated a lot of comments, with the article about how much everyone seems to love the Samsung Galaxy S5 getting over 200 of them! Stupefacente!

Without any further ado, let’s read some of the best comments of the week!

The Galaxy S5 is apparently the phone to beat

Our article about how our readers can’t seem to stop talking about how much they love the Samsung Galaxy S5 got a ton of conversation going. It’s not very often that people get so whipped up into a frenzy about a phone that’s over four years old! But Android Authority readers loved the S5’s design and features, and aren’t afraid to preach.

One frequent commenter by the name of FurrTheBear stepped up on the soapbox to declare his love for the S5, but also declared that he is still using the device today:

Bluetooth may suck, but at least it’s better on Android

We asked a simple question in one of our recent polls: do you prefer to listen to music using Bluetooth or wired with a dongle? Plenty of folks flooded the comments wondering why plugging into a headphone jack wasn’t an option — which would make the question kind of irrelevant — but there was also some interesting commentary on the state of Bluetooth today.

A reader by the name of Paul M made a good observation when he pointed out the difference between Bluetooth on Android and Bluetooth on the iPhone:

Ah, the good ol’ days of removable batteries

Russia is hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which has some U.S. officials scrambling over privacy and security fears. According to Reuters, an F.B.I. official said that U.S. travelers should not use their business or personal mobile phones while in Russia attending the games. He then suggested that if you must bring your device, you should remove the battery when it’s not in use.

That would have been great advice in 2013, as commenter Ghost Of Dixie points out here:

Don’t comment before you read the article

Sometimes it’s easy to spot the commenters who mash the “Comment” button without even skimming through the article first. That was certainly the case with our article about a Samsung foldable phone prototype that leaked to the internet last week. We clearly stated in the article that the prototype design was canceled in 2015.

That didn’t stop people flocking to the comments to call out the images as fakes based on the old version of TouchWiz and the dated design. But one commenter did the right thing and admitted his mistake in an edit. To everyone out there who posts something erroneous online, do the right thing and update your comments appropriately like Aaron S. does here:
