Four more Chromebooks can use Android apps on Chrome OS Developer channel

Google is very slowly adding more Chromebooks to the list that can run Android apps and download them from the Google Play Store. This week, the company quietly added support for four more Chromebooks to run Android apps from the Chrome OS developer channel.

According to 9to5Google, the four new Chromebook additions to the Android app family are the Dell Chromebook 13, the HP 13, the Samsung Chromebook 3, and the ASUS C301SA. They join the Acer R13, the Chromebook Pixel 2015, the Acer Chromebook R11 and the ASUS Chromebook Flip as Chromebooks that can run Android apps and have access to the Google Play Store.

Again this support is only for people who install the Chrome OS build on the developer channel. In order to access that, you have to go into Settings > About Chrome OS > More Info > Change Channel and then pick the developer channel. The build should automatically begin to download on the Chromebook. Keep in mind that the developer channel build will likely have more than the usual share of bugs and issues so if that’s a problem, you might want to wait a few weeks. It’s likely that the new Android-ready Chromebooks will get support in the near future from the Chrome OS stable channel.
