How to change page margins in Microsoft Word
If you weren’t aware, Microsoft Word allows you to fit content to your page by changing how much space you have to write. This is done by altering the preset page margins. You can fit more content on your page if you make margins smaller. If you enlarge them, you create more white space along the borders of your page. Let’s review how to change margins in Word.

In your Word document, click the Layout tab along the top.

In the Page Setup section, click Margins.

In terms of presets, you can choose Normal, Narrow, Moderate, Wide, Mirrored, or Office 2003 Default. Alternatively, you can customize the margins if these presets don’t do it for you. To do so, click Custom Margins… at the bottom.

How to set custom page margins in Word
In the Margins dropdown, click Custom Margins….

Use the Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Gutter, and Gutter position fields to customize the margins for your page. The value in cm that you enter for each will be how far from the edge that margin is.

When satisfied with your new margins — which will appear as a preview in the Preview section — click OK.

Your new page margins will be applied.
