Today’s a big day for Android photography fans. Not only did VSCO Cam finally make its way to Google Play, we’ve also now learned that JFDP Lab’s Camera 2 app has also received a pretty significant update.

For those that have never heard of Camera 2, it is by the same maker as the popular Paper Camera but instead of taking photos and turning them into cartoon-inspired works of art, Camera 2 is a bit more of a conventional camera app with a massive amount of special affects for both videos and pictures. One of the cooler affects even allows you to make your photos look like they came from the 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond.

In the new update, Camera 2’s UI has been revamped to include single-click video recording and several other unspecified improvements. Beyond that, there’s also hardware video encoder support for Android 4.3+ devices that allows faster video recording, and then there’s a pause/resume video feature, the ability to save unprocessed copy of every picture and basic stability and bug fixes.

For those that already have Camera 2, this is a great update that adds quite a bit of extra functionality. If you have yet to give the app a try, you’ll first need to purchase Camera 2 from the Play Store for $2.99.

What do you think of the app, worth the purchase or not? For those that already have Camera 2, what do you think of the latest update?
