Beta version of Call Screen available now for select Canadian Pixel devices
Google’s Call Screen feature on Pixel devices is one of the best tricks available on its line of smartphones. Call Screen will answer the phone when an unknown caller rings and communicate with the caller for you. This saves you from having to deal with spam calls directly.
Up until now, the feature has only been available for users in the United States, but as of today, a beta version is rolling out to Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 2 owners in Canada.
Unfortunately, the Canadian version is limited to only English language calls, just like here in the U.S. That might be a no-go for many Canadians who speak French as their native language.
It’s not quite clear why Call Screen for Canadians is in beta, as the feature is not in beta here in the U.S. If it supported different languages or had additional features, a beta rollout would make sense, but as it stands it looks like this is the same Call Screen we have here.
According to Google, select Canadian Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 owners will receive an email inviting them to download and install Call Screen via the Google Play Store. If you can’t wait for that, you can click here and sign up for the beta yourself.
Hopefully, the addition of Canada to supported Call Screen countries means that more countries and languages will soon be added to the list so more people can take advantage of this awesome feature.
