Not many bought the possibility of Samsung releasing a black Galaxy S3 when the first rumors surfaced, but now the new color version is all but confirmed. While Samsung is still refusing to comment on the handheld’s existence, the black Galaxy S3 is already up for pre-order.
There’s only one retailer listing the black edition of the S3 so far, and it’s not a very well known one – at least in the States – but we have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the Mobile Fun UK listing.
Before taking the British retailer’s website by storm, though, you should know that the black S3 is still far from a release, being currently available for pre-order, with an ETA of 4 to 6 weeks.
That means the new S3 won’t arrive at your doorstep before mid-September at best, so you might want to hold out for a few more days and see if someone else will start selling the phone earlier. We know that Carphone Warehouse is planning to do so, and we suspect other retailers to follow suite.
If you decide to place an order for Mobile Fun’s black SIM-free S3, you should know that it sells for just £499.95 (around $780). Looking at the retailer’s listings for the other two versions of the S3, we have to note that the black model goes for the same price as the Pebble Blue one, and for just £10 more than the Ceramic White model.
As for tech specs, we haven’t picked up any notable differences between the black, blue, and white S3s up for sale on Mobile Fun. You’ll therefore get the same quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos processor under the hood, 1 GB of RAM, that beautiful 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, Android 4.0 ICS (with a Jelly Bean update coming soon), an 8 MP rear-facing shooter, a 2,100 mAh battery, and 16 GB of on-board storage expandable via a memory card.
There’s no word on whether we should expect this “dark knight” to go outside UK or not, but if we find out anything, we will surely let you know. Keep in touch!
