BBC introduces Chromecast support to its BBC iPlayer app

Timed perfectly with the Chromecast's official UK launch, BBC has officially introduced Chromecast support to the BBC iPlayer app.
March 19, 2014

Back in February, Google finally publicly released the Chromecast SDK, opening up the device to any interested developers. Since then, we’ve seen a plethora of apps add support for the streaming dongle, and a 3rd party directory of Chromecast apps even surfaced earlier this week.

Now it looks like the BBC is following suit by adding Chromecast support for the BBC iPlayer. The arrival of Chromecast support for the BBC iPlayer coincides with the media dongle’s official launch in the UK. Aside from adding support for Chromecast, the most recent iPlayer update also includes a number of unspecified bug fixes and minor improvements.

It’s worth noting that those with an imported Chromecast may need to factory reset the device before it can be recognized by the iPlayer. If you have yet to grab the latest version of the app already, you can do so by heading over to Google Play.
