UPDATE 03/08/2018, 3:07 P.M. EST: Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear is now officially available in the Google Play Store. As expected, it is priced at $9.99.

Original ArticleBaldur’s Gate is a fantasy role-playing game that came out for computers nearly 20 years ago. It got a follow-up, Baldur’s Gate II two years later. Then, remarkably, a prequel to Baldur’s Gate II dropped in 2016, over 15 years later. Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear fills in the gaps between the original release and the sequel.

Now, in a surprise tweet announcement, the game’s publisher Beamdog is porting Siege of Dragonspear to Android. The game will hit the Google Play Store this coming Thursday, March 8. The game itself will involve at least 30-hours of gameplay and work as a standalone experience.

Since Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II were both previously ported to Android, you will now be able to experience the full saga right on your Android device. No price information is known for Siege of Dragonspear yet, but since both previous games are listed at $9.99, it’s a relatively safe assumption that this new release will be priced in the same range.

Keep in mind that this is an Android port of a two-year-old computer game, so you shouldn’t expect any upgrades in the graphics department. However, if you have a phone with less-than-stellar specs, it hopefully will be able to handle the game, which is a nice trade-off.

Otherwise, it appears all the details from the PC version of the game are intact: the spirit-calling shaman calls, an enhanced difficulty setting, and cross-platform support.
