IFA is in full-swing now and our very own Josh Vergara has been making the rounds, collecting great video content on all the latest new devices and gizmos. This includes the new Asus ZenWatch, an Android Wear powered device that technically houses a square display, but in a body that’s not quite like any other AW device we’ve seen so far.
TheZenWatch is without a doubt one of the most attractive AW devices to date, featuring a stainless stell body that has a slightly curved display. Even more exciting, the watch features an AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. There’s also a genuine leather strap with a quick release clasp.
There’s even some pretty cool special features here like the ability to trigger a camera shot from your watch, and a built-in heart rate monitor.
Asus ZenWatch specs
- 1.63-inch AMOLED display with 320×320 resolution
- Snapdragon 400 CPU
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB storage
- 1.4Wh battery (said to last over a day)
- Bluetooth 4.0 Heart rate monitor
- IP55 rating
Moving beyond the design, the same overall experience will be found as with any other Android Wear device. That means the biggest selling point here will be the device’s aesthetics. Whether this ‘standing out’ design is a good change or bad one likely will depend on your own personal tastes.
