Asus teases metal curves in first video of Android Wear-powered ZenWatch

A new teaser from Asus gives us a look at the metals curves found on its upcoming Android Wear offering, the ZenWatch.
August 27, 2014

When Google first announced the Android Wear platform they revealed that several major OEMs would be partnering up for the effort, including the likes of Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC and Asus. Speaking of the latter two, in recent months rumors have started trickling in giving us a bit of an idea of what to expect, though there’s still a few unknowns.

For the Asus watch in particular, we’ve heard that the device will be very competitively priced, but it’s unclear if that simply means they’ll price the watch around the same as the Gear Live or go for something more aggressive, like the $99 – $150 price tag rumors have claimed we might see. As for the device’s design, a recent teaser image from Asus gave us a glimpse at the design and also indicated the watch would have at least a partially metal design. Now Asus has released its first teaser video, giving us an even better look at the watch. Additionally, the video unveils that the Android Wear device will debut under the name ZenWatch.

As you can see in the video, the teaser doesn’t give us a look at the front but it does quickly show off the overall shape and back of the watch. Until we get a full look, we’ll reserve judgment when it comes to aesthetics, but things are looking pretty good so far. Asus will formally announce the ZenWatch at IFA on September 3rd, and we’ll be there live to bring you all the latest news and video coverage. What do you think, based on what we know about the watch’s design — interested or not?
