Proud owners of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer are in for a treat as Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb (build version update is now made available for them to download. It may not be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but the recent update has got everything you need to power up your rusty tablet to a full-fledge computing workhorse.

According to an announcement on the ASUS Facebook page, the update contains a set of new features that greatly enhances the performance of the device, as well as application updates.  These include Netflix integration and App Backup that allows users to backup their favorite apps to be later restored to another ASUS tablet. Performance-wise, the device receives an upgrade in Wi-Fi functionality and a patch that fixes the battery drain problem when the tablet is docked.

Application updates include tons from Google services (e.g., Books, Maps, and Android Market), MyCloud, Polaris Office, Supernote, MyNet, and ASUS Sync just to name a few.  The Eee Pad Transformer update will be made available over-the-air and as always users can check for the updates manually in the settings page if they choose not to wait for the official OTA notification.

ASUS once again impresses us with another update to their devices in small increments.  Maybe in the near future an Ice Cream Sandwich update will soon roll out for the Eee Pad Transformer. Download the latest version today and enjoy the update ASUS has in store for your Eee Pad Transformer.

Have you updated your Transformer to the latest Honeycomb?  Is the device performing much better than before?

Paul and I.T. are synonyms. If you need help with I.T.-related stuff, call on Paul. His experience with Android phones goes way back to the ancient single-core-phone days. But, he keeps himself up to date, so now he has a dual-core beast in his pocket, and is looking forward to getting his first quad-core monster, and when it comes, his first eight-core phone. Perhaps he should be called Mr. X-Core, where "X" equals the number of CPU cores.
