Here are the 24 Android Wear-ready apps and what they do

For now, there are only a couple of dozens apps, but rest assured that hundreds of developers will eventually use the Android Wear SDK to add some sort of Android Wear functionality to their apps.

The first Android Wear devices – the G Watch and the Gear Live – are only coming next week, but Google has already launched an Android Wear app in the Play Store, which now contains a special section that highlights apps that support the new wearable platform.

For now, there are only a couple of dozens apps, but rest assured that hundreds of developers will eventually use the Android Wear SDK to add some sort of Android Wear functionality to their apps.

So, what apps for Android Wear will you be able to install when your G Watch or Gear Live finally ships? Here’s the current list:

  • Android Wear – “the link to Android wearables. Control voice action preferences, adjust notification settings, and configure devices.”
  • IFTTT – “trigger Recipes and read notifications right from your wrist”
  • Level Money – “Latest transaction notification will now show up on Android Wear”
  • Contacts+ – share contact details by bumping AW watches, see incoming texts, set and snooze birthday reminders from your watch
  • Bandsintown Concerts – “Get just announced notifications right on your wearable device, flip through important details and RSVP on the spot”
  • Banjo – get localized news and social posts on your wrist
  • Duolingo – “Language practice as easy as checking the time! Duolingo now includes support for Android Wear.”
  • Eat24 – “you can re-order from your favorite restaurants with just a few simple voice and finger commands. This is awesome for a couple reasons, the main one being YOU CAN ORDER PIZZA FROM A WATCH.”
  • Onefootball Brazil – “Information such as live scores, ball possession, and goal scorers will all be just a swipe away on your Wear enabled watch.”
  • Highlight – “With a glance of your watch, you can now see when … People you’re meeting with have arrived;  Old friends touch down at a nearby airport; Friends from other parts of town are close by; There’s someone nearby you should meet”
  • Glympse – share location with contacts from your AW device
  • Talkray – “Auto-reply to chats on Android Wear; Send voice messages by talking into your Android Wear, just like the movies!”
  • Player FM – “Browse and launch episodes straight from your wrist. Welcome to the future, have a nice day!”
  • The Guardian – “breaking news and full access to the Guardian’s award-winning content”
  • Thomson Reuters Eikon – “Market Data, News, and Research alerts straight to your Wear device; Quickly check the markets and breaking news directly from your wearable”
  • Personal Capital Finance – “anytime, anywhere, you know what’s happening with your money”
  • Allthecooks Recipes – “Just open the recipe and it will synchronize in your watch timeline. Press “open on watch” to wake up your watch and start cooking”
  • Pinterest – “Get nearby notifications of Places you have pinned on your Android Wear and Android device”
  • American Airlines – “If you have a wearable device and our app, you will get a notification of your status from your present location to the origin airport along with your ETA based on current traffic starting four hours before flight. We will also alert you if that status changes.”
  • Fly Delta – “Support for Android Wear™ – once checked in, view your eBoarding Pass on your watch”
  • 1Weather Widget – “just launch 1Weather and Current Conditions and Forecast will appear on your wearable device”
  • Zumper – “With Android Wear you can now get real-time notifications of Zumper apartment listings directly on your Android wearable device”
  • Maps – the best maps app is now on your wrist
  • Hangouts – read and reply to Hangout messages from your AW device
