Android Authority this week!

Exciting news this week in the world of Android. The shroud of mystery lifted off the Galaxy Note 4, NVIDIA gave us a peek at its 64-bit chip, Samsung finally launched a metal phone, Google pushed a few sweet updates to its apps, and we finally got a release date for the Moto X+1 and the Moto 360.
At Android Authority HQ, the name of the game was planning this week. We’re excited for what’s to come and think you should be too! Let’s take a look back.
Android Authority this week
Building a database
Product pages, brand pages, best lists, product comparisons, spec-based filters… For all of these features we need a comprehensive product database. The scaffolding is already in place and we’re now hard at work punching in product information. As you imagine, it’s not easy work, with Android these days meaning a whole lot more than just smartphones. When the database is rich enough, you’ll see the first user-facing features, starting with some spiffy product pages that Derek is now putting together.
Meet the Devs
Our Meet the Devs series has been going on for a few months on, but I feel that it deserves a shoutout here, simply because it’s one of the few places on the web where Android developers can tell the world about themselves and their work. Every week, Joe puts up an interview with an Android dev or development company, of all sizes and of all kinds. If you’re an app maker, a would-be app developer, or just someone who’s interested in how the proverbial sausage is made, check out Meet the Devs here.

Android is everywhere
At our weekly team hangout on Friday, we threw around ideas about where we see Android Authority in a few years, and we all agreed that the future is bright. Why is that? It’s not because we’re super confident in ourselves – on the contrary, we’re humbled and deeply aware of how lucky we are to reach millions of people and make a living out of our passion. It’s because Android will soon be even bigger – from smartphones, it’s making the jump to wearables, and cars, and TVs, and who knows what else. And we get to tag along for the ride and document everything! That’s what makes us really excited about the future here at Android Authority, and we hope you feel the same.
Coming up next
Two weeks to IFA! I am already excited, especially because this year’s going to be a blast, with the Alpha and the Note 4, Xperias, Motorola’s event, and more. (Motorola scheduled its event at the same time, but in Chicago – I am not even mad, I can’t wait to see what they have in store.) What I am not looking forward to is the crazy amount of work we’ll have to put in, but the effort is definitely worth it.
On the forums front, a little bird told me the grand opening is finally close. Derek sorted out everything on the tech side, and we have some ideas for a sweet housewarming giveaway. Stay tuned.

If you’re heading back to school soon, our upcoming Back to School features will help you get the most out of your limited buck. Keep an eye out for them.
