The Android 4.4.3 tide is upon us. Following a slow start on Monday, when Google published Android 4.4.3 factory builds and binaries, the release picked up steam yesterday, with OTAs for the Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi, followed by updates for Google Play edition devices and Motorola’s smartphones.

Now we have some good news for impatient Nexus 5 users – the Android 4.4.3 over the air update rollout is underway and intrepid users have already captured the .zip file and made it available for all to flash.

In order to successfully install the update, you need to make sure that your Nexus 5 is running Android 4.4.2 KOT49H. This is an incremental update, meaning that you won’t flash a full factory image, so you will get to keep all your data intact. The 92MB update will bring your device to Android 4.4.3 KTU84M.

If you don’t quite know your way around manually installing Android updates, our handy sideloading guide can help – note that we compiled it for a different Android version, but the steps that you need to follow are the same.

What’s new in Android 4.4.3? In terms of outward changes, not much – you get a revamped Dialer app and minor changes to the People app, and that’s about it. In the bug fixes category, the update is far more substantial, though some big known bugs have reportedly remained open.
