Amazon picks AT&T to be exclusive carrier of their upcoming smartphone

According to the Wall Street Journal, AT&T will be the exclusive carrier for Amazon’s new smartphone. The phone is expected to be unveiled on Wednesday in Seattle.
The smartphone will reportedly feature a 3-D interface with four built-in cameras. Rumors (from BGR) also claim that the phone will run Android Kit Kat from a 4.7-inch screen with 720p resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Also expected to be included is finger-tracking technology where icons would hover above the screen and can be touched or moved in the space over the phone.
Amazon drew speculation about its next product earlier this month by using a mysterious YouTube video to announce a June 18 “launch event” in Seattle to be hosted by Chief Executive Jeff Bezos.

AT&T already provides wireless service to Kindle tablets and e-readers. The Amazon phone will join other phones that launched exclusively on AT&T’s network including the iPhone and the now-dead Facebook phone (among others).
The Wall Street Journal was not able to verify whether the AT&T/Amazon exclusive deal stretched several years or just for the first few months.
